Areas of Experience

My policy expertise can be applied across a broad range of subject areas. I have in-depth experience in governance, child and family services, membership, elections, and dispute resolution. Other recent work includes education, housing, finance, and information management.

I work closely with First Nations staff and subject-matter experts to draw on their knowledge. Where in-house knowledge isn’t available, I lead the research to build the understanding  needed to move the work forward.

Collaborators

Policy projects can require additional specialist skills – for example, cultural advisors, lawyers, or graphic designers. If the First Nation does not have a preferred contractor, I work with them to identify qualified individuals within their community, or connect them with one of my trusted collaborators.

Education

I hold a Masters in Criminal Justice (University of Oxford) alongside degrees in Law, Political Science, and International Relations (Te Herenga Waka – Victoria University of Wellington).

I prioritize ongoing training to continually strengthen my knowledge and skills – including certifications in Indigenous cultural safety, policy, management, leadership, community engagement, facilitation, and dispute resolution.

Beyond my formal qualifications, much of what I know has come from the knowledge and experiences generously shared with me by the Indigenous communities I work alongside.
